HB 1038 LC 21 3443 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1- 1 To amend an Act entitled "An Act to create a board of 1- 2 commissioners of roads and revenues for the County of 1- 3 Monroe," approved August 19, 1907 (Ga. L. 1907, p. 318), as 1- 4 amended, so as to provide certain restrictions on the 1- 5 transfer of ownership or operation of a certain county 1- 6 landfill; to provide certain restrictions on the acceptance 1- 7 of waste generated out of the county; to repeal conflicting 1- 8 laws; and for other purposes. 1- 9 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. 1-10 An Act entitled "An Act to create a board of commissioners 1-11 of roads and revenues for the County of Monroe," approved 1-12 August 19, 1907 (Ga. L. 1907, p. 318), as amended, is 1-13 amended by inserting immediately following Section 7 a new 1-14 section to read as follows: "SECTION 7A. 1-15 (a) Any other provision of law to the contrary 1-16 notwithstanding, the governing authority of Monroe County 1-17 shall not transfer ownership or operation of the 1-18 Strickland Loop Landfill to any private party unless such 1-19 action is ratified by a majority of the electors of Monroe 1-20 County voting on the question. 1-21 (b) Any other provision of law to the contrary 1-22 notwithstanding, the governing authority of Monroe County 1-23 shall not authorize the acceptance of any waste generated 1-24 out of the county to be deposited into the Strickland Loop 1-25 Landfill unless such action is ratified by a majority of 1-26 the electors of Monroe County voting on the question." SECTION 2. 1-27 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 1-28 repealed. -1- (Index)
