HB 1119 LC 25 0178 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1- 1 To amend Code Section 40-6-181 of the Official Code of 1- 2 Georgia Annotated, relating to maximum speed limits, so as 1- 3 to change the maximum speed limits for certain highways; to 1- 4 repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 1- 5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. Speed limits for certain highways; change maximum 1119t 1- 6 Code Section 40-6-181 of the Official Code of Georgia 1- 7 Annotated, relating to maximum speed limits, is amended by 1- 8 striking subsection (b) and inserting in its place a new 1- 9 subsection (b) to read as follows: 1-10 "(b) No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed in excess 1-11 of the following maximum limits: 1-12 (1) Thirty miles per hour in any urban or residential 1-13 district; 1-14 (2) Sixty-five miles per hour on a highway on any 1-15 divided highway not a part of the federal interstate 1-16 system which is outside of an urbanized area of 50,000 1-17 population or more, provided that such speed limit is 1-18 designated by appropriate signs; and 1-19 (3) Seventy-five miles per hour on any highway on the 1-20 federal interstate system except as otherwise provided 1-21 by paragraphs (4) and (5) of this subsection; 1-22 (4) Sixty-five miles per hour on I-285 and on any 1-23 highway on the federal interstate system inside the 1-24 periphery of I-285; 1-25 (5) Eighty miles per hour on I-16 between its 1-26 interchange with U.S. Highway 23 in Bibb County and its 1-27 interchange with I-95 in Chatham County; and 1-28 (3)(6) Fifty-five miles per hour in other locations." -1- (Index) LC 25 0178 SECTION 2. 2- 1 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 2- 2 repealed. -2- (Index)
