HB 1378 LC 11 8774/4 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1- 1 To amend an Act increasing the homestead exemption from 1- 2 Fulton County ad valorem taxes for county purposes for 1- 3 certain persons who are disabled or 65 years of age or over, 1- 4 approved April 7, 1995 (Ga. L. 1995, p. 4423), so as to 1- 5 change a definition; to provide for an effective date and 1- 6 automatic repeal; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other 1- 7 purposes. 1- 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. 1- 9 An Act increasing the homestead exemption from Fulton County 1-10 ad valorem taxes for county purposes for certain persons who 1-11 are disabled or 65 years of age or over, approved April 7, 1-12 1995 (Ga. L. 1995, p. 4423), is amended by striking 1-13 paragraph (2) of Section 1 thereof, which reads as follows: 1-14 "(2) 'Fulton County ad valorem taxes' means all Fulton 1-15 County ad valorem taxes except for ad valorem taxes 1-16 levied by, for, or on behalf of the Fulton County School 1-17 District and including ad valorem taxes to pay interest 1-18 on and retire county bonded indebtedness.", 1-19 and inserting in its place the following: 1-20 "(2) 'Fulton County ad valorem taxes for county 1-21 purposes' means all Fulton County ad valorem taxes but 1-22 does not include ad valorem taxes to pay interest on and 1-23 retire county bonded indebtedness and does not include 1-24 ad valorem taxes levied by, for, or on behalf of the 1-25 Fulton County School District." SECTION 2. 1-26 This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the 1-27 Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval. SECTION 3. 1-28 If Sections 1 through 9 of an Act approved April 7, 1995 1-29 (Ga. L. 1995, p. 4423) do not become effective, this Act -1- (Index) LC 11 8774/4 2- 1 shall be automatically repealed upon the date that Act is 2- 2 automatically repealed. SECTION 4. 2- 3 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 2- 4 repealed. -2- (Index)
