substitute to HB 147:
A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1- 1 To amend Code Section 50-7-12 of the Official Code of
1- 2 Georgia Annotated, relating to authorization of welcome
1- 3 centers, construction, operation, and maintenance of welcome
1- 4 centers, and installation and operation of vending machines
1- 5 at welcome centers, so as to provide for the installation
1- 6 and operation of automated teller machines and
1- 7 cash-dispensing machines at welcome centers; to provide for
1- 8 the practices, procedures, and requirements related thereto;
1- 9 to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
1-11 Code Section 50-7-12 of the Official Code of Georgia
1-12 Annotated, relating to authorization of welcome centers,
1-13 construction, operation, and maintenance of welcome centers,
1-14 and installation and operation of vending machines at
1-15 welcome centers, is amended by adding at the end thereof a
1-16 new subsection (d) to read as follows:
1-17 "(d) The Department of Industry, Trade, and Tourism, with
1-18 the concurrence of the Department of Transportation, is
1-19 authorized to provide for the installation and operation
1-20 at welcome centers of automated teller machines and
1-21 cash-dispensing machines. If so authorized, such machines
1-22 shall be established, placed, and operated in accordance
1-23 with applicable law. Such machines shall be placed in
1-24 welcome centers upon such terms and conditions as shall be
1-25 deemed by the Department of Industry, Trade, and Tourism
1-26 to be in the best interest of the state and the traveling
1-27 public."
SECTION 2.
1-28 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
1-29 repealed.
