A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1- 1 To amend an Act making provisions for the Magistrate Court
1- 2 of Butts County, approved March 15, 1984 (Ga. L. 1984, p.
1- 3 4308), as amended, particularly by an Act approved March 22,
1- 4 1990 (Ga. L. 1990, p. 4432), so as to repeal certain
1- 5 provisions relating to the compensation of the chief
1- 6 magistrate of that court; to provide an effective date; to
1- 7 repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
1- 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
1- 9 An Act making provisions for the Magistrate Court of Butts
1-10 County, approved March 15, 1984 (Ga. L. 1984, p. 4308), as
1-11 amended, particularly by an Act approved March 22, 1990 (Ga.
1-12 L. 1990, p. 4432), is amended by striking Section 3 thereof,
1-13 which reads as follows:
"SECTION 3.
1-14 (a) The chief magistrate shall receive a minimum annual
1-15 salary of $14,000.00.
1-16 (b) In addition to the base salary provided in subsection
1-17 (a) of this section on and after the date this subsection
1-18 becomes effective, the chief magistrate shall receive a
1-19 supplemental salary which shall be an amount equal to 3
1-20 percent of the base salary per year. The supplemental
1-21 salary shall be payable in equal monthly installments from
1-22 the funds of Butts County.
1-23 (c) This section shall not decrease the salary or
1-24 supplement of the chief magistrate during the term of
1-25 office of that chief magistrate."
SECTION 2.
1-26 This Act shall become effective on the first day of the
1-27 month following the month in which it is approved by the
1-28 Governor or in which it becomes law without such approval.

2- 1 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
2- 2 repealed.
