HB 1639 LC 9 8670 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1- 1 To amend Chapter 9 of Title 31 of the Official Code of 1- 2 Georgia Annotated, known as the "Georgia Medical Consent 1- 3 Law," so as to repeal Code Section 31-9-5, relating to the 1- 4 nonapplicability of such law to abortion and sterilization 1- 5 procedures; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other 1- 6 purposes. 1- 7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. 1- 8 Chapter 9 of Title 31 of the Official Code of Georgia 1- 9 Annotated, known as the "Georgia Medical Consent Law," is 1-10 amended by striking Code Section 31-9-5, which reads as 1-11 follows: 1-12 "31-9-5. (Index) 1-13 This chapter shall not apply in any manner whatsoever to 1-14 abortion and sterilization procedures, which procedures 1-15 shall continue to be governed by existing law 1-16 independently of the terms and provisions of this 1-17 chapter.", 1-18 and inserting in lieu thereof the following: 1-19 "31-9-5. (Index) 1-20 Reserved." SECTION 2. 1-21 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 1-22 repealed. -1- (Index)
