A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1- 1 To amend Article 4 of Chapter 5 of Title 16 of the Official
1- 2 Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to reckless conduct, so
1- 3 as to provide for definitions; to provide for the offense of
1- 4 bungee jumping; to provide for penalties; to provide for
1- 5 related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
1- 6 purposes.
1- 7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
1- 8 Article 4 of Chapter 5 of Title 16 of the Official Code of
1- 9 Georgia Annotated, relating to reckless conduct, is amended
1-10 by adding a new Code section to be designated as Code
1-11 Section 16-5-62 to read as follows:
1-12 "16-5-62. (Index)
1-13 (a) As used in this Code section, the term 'bungee
1-14 jumping' means the use of any cord, rope, or elastic
1-15 device to propel oneself or another person from a
1-16 building, bridge, or other structure whose height meets or
1-17 exceeds ten feet.
1-18 (b) It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in
1-19 bungee jumping or for any person to counsel, encourage, or
1-20 solicit another person to engage in bungee jumping for
1-21 recreation or sport.
1-22 (c) Any person who violates this Code section shall be
1-23 guilty of a misdemeanor of a high and aggravated nature."
SECTION 2.
1-24 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
1-25 repealed.
