                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                               AN ACT


  1- 1  To amend an Act providing for the election of the Board of
  1- 2  Commissioners of Schley County, approved February 5, 1951
  1- 3  (Ga. L. 1951, p. 2229), as amended, particularly by an Act
  1- 4  approved April 17, 1987 (Ga. L. 1987, p. 5490), so as to
  1- 5  change the compensation of the chairman and members of the
  1- 6  board of commissioners; to provide an effective date; to
  1- 7  repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

  1- 8       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

                         SECTION 1.

  1- 9  An Act providing for the election of the Board of
  1-10  Commissioners of Schley County, approved February 5, 1951
  1-11  (Ga. L. 1951, p. 2229), as amended, particularly by an Act
  1-12  approved April 17, 1987 (Ga. L. 1987, p. 5490), is amended
  1-13  by striking subsection (d) of Section 1 in its entirety
  1-14  which reads as follows:

  1-15    "(d) The chairman of the board of commissioners shall be
  1-16    compensated in the amount of $100.00 per month.  Each
  1-17    other member of the board of commissioners shall be
  1-18    compensated in the amount of $50.00 per month.",

  1-19  and inserting in lieu thereof a new subsection to read as
  1-20  follows:

  1-21    "(d) The chairman of the board of commissioners shall be
  1-22    compensated in the amount of $300.00 per month.  Each
  1-23    other member of the board of commissioners shall be
  1-24    compensated in the amount of $100.00 per month."

                         SECTION 2.

  1-25  This Act shall become effective on the first day of the
  1-26  month following the month in which it is approved by the
  1-27  Governor or in which it becomes law without such approval.

                         SECTION 3.

  1-28  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
  1-29  repealed.
