A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1- 1 To amend Code Section 20-2-157 of the Official Code of
1- 2 Georgia Annotated, relating to the uniform reporting system
1- 3 for postsecondary enrollment or certain financial
1- 4 assistance, so as to require the State Board of Education to
1- 5 formulate and adopt a reporting system to identify and
1- 6 qualify home schooled children for such financial
1- 7 assistance; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
1- 8 purposes.
1- 9 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
1-10 Code Section 20-2-157 of the Official Code of Georgia
1-11 Annotated, relating to the uniform reporting system for
1-12 postsecondary enrollment or certain financial assistance, is
1-13 amended by striking subsection (b) and inserting in its
1-14 place a new subsection (b) to read as follows:
1-15 "(b)(1) Each school system shall adopt the following
1-16 reporting system for purposes of identifying and
1-17 qualifying graduating seniors for the HOPE scholarship
1-18 program and other programs identified in this Code
1-19 section:
1-20 (1)(A) A final grade average of at least an 80 numeric
1-21 average, provided the student is in a college
1-22 preparatory curriculum; or
1-23 (2)(B) A final grade average of at least an 85 numeric
1-24 average, if the student is in other than a college
1-25 preparatory curriculum.
1-26 (2) The State Board of Education shall formulate and
1-27 adopt a reporting system for purposes of identifying and
1-28 qualifying home schooled children for the HOPE
1-29 scholarship program and other programs identified in
1-30 this Code section.
1-31 (3) Only the reporting system systems as indicated in
1-32 this subsection shall be used to determine eligibility

2- 1 for all grants, scholarships, or loans to attend
2- 2 colleges or universities which are administered pursuant
2- 3 to Article 7 of Chapter 3 of this title and eligibility
2- 4 for enrollment in postsecondary courses pursuant to Code
2- 5 Section 20-2-161.1."
SECTION 2.
2- 6 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
2- 7 repealed.
