HB 719 LC 24 0118 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1- 1 To amend Article 1 of Chapter 11 of Title 15 of the Official 1- 2 Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to juvenile proceedings, 1- 3 so as to provide that children on probation shall maintain a 1- 4 passing average in school as a condition of probation until 1- 5 they have completed their probation or obtained a high 1- 6 school diploma or a general educational development (GED) 1- 7 equivalency diploma; to provide for related matters; to 1- 8 repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 1- 9 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. 1-10 Article 1 of Chapter 11 of Title 15 of the Official Code of 1-11 Georgia Annotated, relating to juvenile proceedings, is 1-12 amended by adding a new Code section at the end of such 1-13 article to read as follows: 1-14 "15-11-67. (Index) 1-15 Notwithstanding the provisions of Article 16 of Chapter 2 1-16 of Title 20, a child placed on probation pursuant to this 1-17 chapter must, as a condition of probation, attend and 1-18 maintain a passing average in school until the earlier of 1-19 the child's receipt of a high school diploma or a general 1-20 educational development (GED) equivalency diploma or the 1-21 completion of probation." SECTION 2. 1-22 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 1-23 repealed. -1- (Index)
