A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1- 1 To amend Part 1 of Article 7 of Chapter 3 of Title 20 of the
1- 2 Official Code of Georgia Annotated, known as the "Georgia
1- 3 Student Finance Commission Act," so as to provide for
1- 4 additional eligibility and requirements for participation in
1- 5 the HOPE scholarship program; to repeal conflicting laws;
1- 6 and for other purposes.
1- 7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
1- 8 Part 1 of Article 7 of Chapter 3 of Title 20 of the Official
1- 9 Code of Georgia Annotated, known as the "Georgia Student
1-10 Finance Commission Act," is amended by adding at the end
1-11 thereof a new Code Section 20-3-242 to read as follows:
1-12 "20-3-242. (Index)
1-13 Any graduate of a public high school in the State of
1-14 Georgia who has completed one year of full-time studies at
1-15 a public college or university in the State of Georgia and
1-16 who has a cumulative B or 3.0 grade point average while a
1-17 student at such college or university shall be eligible to
1-18 participate in and receive a scholarship through the HOPE
1-19 scholarship program, regardless of such student's
1-20 cumulative grade point average while in high school."
SECTION 2.
1-21 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
1-22 repealed.
