HB 939 LC 19 2502 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1- 1 To amend Code Section 40-6-203 of the Official Code of 1- 2 Georgia Annotated, relating to stopping, standing, or 1- 3 parking in specified places, so as to prohibit standing or 1- 4 parking a vehicle in a school zone where parking is 1- 5 prohibited to pick up or discharge passengers; to provide an 1- 6 effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other 1- 7 purposes. 1- 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. 1- 9 Code Section 40-6-203 of the Official Code of Georgia 1-10 Annotated, relating to stopping, standing, or parking in 1-11 specified places, is amended by adding at the end thereof a 1-12 new subsection (d) to read as follows: 1-13 "(d) Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraphs (2) and 1-14 (3) of subsection (a) of this Code section, in any area 1-15 identified as a school zone and which is marked by 1-16 official signs prohibiting parking, it shall be unlawful 1-17 for any person to stand or park a vehicle even momentarily 1-18 to pick up or discharge a passenger or passengers." SECTION 2. 1-19 This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the 1-20 Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval. SECTION 3. 1-21 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 1-22 repealed. -1- (Index)
