HR 115 LC 8 2371 A RESOLUTION 1- 1 Commending the Lassiter High School marching band and 1- 2 inviting the members of the band and the band directors to 1- 3 appear before the House of Representatives; and for other 1- 4 purposes. 1- 5 WHEREAS, the Lassiter High School marching band captured 1- 6 third place at the 1994 Bands of America "Grand National" 1- 7 competition which was held at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, 1- 8 Indiana; and 1- 9 WHEREAS, this is the premier national competition for high 1-10 school marching bands and 66 bands from across the nation 1-11 competed for the 1994 awards; and 1-12 WHEREAS, the Lassiter High School marching band was the sole 1-13 representative from the State of Georgia selected to 1-14 participate in this loftiest competition; and 1-15 WHEREAS, the Lassiter "Marching Trojans" band is composed of 1-16 287 members under the direction of Alfred L. Watkins and Sue 1-17 Samuels, and these young musicians have demonstrated 1-18 outstanding talent, dedication, discipline, and perseverance 1-19 throughout their many programs and competitions; and 1-20 WHEREAS, this terrific marching band also received the Best 1-21 Musical Performance Award for their superb performance of 1-22 their repertoire and the Esprit de Corps Award based upon 1-23 the pride, spirit, enthusiasm, friendliness, and unity they 1-24 exhibited throughout the rigorous competition; and 1-25 WHEREAS, these superior accomplishments are a fine testament 1-26 to the diligence and determination of these very capable 1-27 musicians and reflect great honor and credit on their 1-28 school, community, and state; and 1-29 WHEREAS, it is most fitting and appropriate to recognize and 1-30 congratulate this excellent marching band and its directors 1-31 on their prestigious achievements and to properly convey to 1-32 them on behalf of the citizens of this state the utmost 1-33 praise. 1-34 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 1-35 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate -1- (Index) LC 8 2371 2- 1 the Lassiter High School "Marching Trojans" band on its 2- 2 distinguished performance at the 1994 Bands of America 2- 3 "Grand National" competition and express to the band members 2- 4 and the very talented directors of the band their sincerest 2- 5 best wishes for continued success. 2- 6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the Lassiter High 2- 7 School marching band and the band directors are invited to 2- 8 appear before the House of Representatives at a time to be 2- 9 determined by the Speaker of the House of Representatives. 2-10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 2-11 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 2-12 appropriate copy of this resolution to Alfred L.
