A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Commending Honorable Lynda Coker; and for other purposes.
1- 2 WHEREAS, Honorable Lynda Coker has served with distinction
1- 3 as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives from
1- 4 Cobb County, and she has announced her retirement to become
1- 5 one of the top-ranking female law enforcement officers in
1- 6 the nation; and
1- 7 WHEREAS, she was sworn into office in January, 1991, and
1- 8 this lovely, intelligent, vibrant woman has graced this
1- 9 chamber with her reasonable, fair, and effective leadership
1-10 style; and
1-11 WHEREAS, she has provided wise and able advice to her
1-12 colleagues on the Public Safety Committee where she has
1-13 applied her undergraduate and graduate study in the field of
1-14 criminal justice and her experience and training in law
1-15 enforcement; and
1-16 WHEREAS, she is a member of many civic groups and
1-17 organizations and has served as a teacher and as a
1-18 congressional aide, and she is revered as one of Cobb
1-19 County's most dedicated leaders and most respected elected
1-20 officials; and
1-21 WHEREAS, she has been a devoted wife to her husband, Gene,
1-22 who is a successful attorney, a nurturing mother to two
1-23 attractive and capable children, and a loving grandmother to
1-24 a very fortunate young boy named Zachary; and
1-25 WHEREAS, the people of Cobb County and the members of this
1-26 House will forever appreciate Honorable Lynda Coker for her
1-27 tremendous devotion and service to her community and state
1-28 and will long remember her for her fairness and competence.
1-29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
1-30 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend
1-31 Honorable Lynda Coker for a job well done and wish her the
