                             A RESOLUTION

  1- 1  Commending the Cedar Shoals High School Jaguars football
  1- 2  team; and for other purposes.

  1- 3  WHEREAS, the Cedar Shoals High School Jaguars football team
  1- 4  completed an outstanding 1995 football season finishing as
  1- 5  state runner-up in Class AAA; and

  1- 6  WHEREAS, the Jaguars, with a 12-3 record on the field,
  1- 7  exhibited remarkable dedication and determination in
  1- 8  defeating four state ranked opponents and recorded eight
  1- 9  consecutive victories en route to finishing with the best
  1-10  season in the school's history; and

  1-11  WHEREAS, during the course of this outstanding season, the
  1-12  team broke six team records: most wins, 12; most points
  1-13  scored, 492; most yards rushing, 5718; most yards total
  1-14  offense, 6362; most touchdowns, 57; most take aways, 37; and

  1-15  WHEREAS, the team had four running backs, Eugene
  1-16  Christopher, Shawn Holt, Chuck Turner, and Jon Chasteen, go
  1-17  over the 1000 yard rushing mark for the season; and

  1-18  WHEREAS, four members of the Jaguar team were honored as All
  1-19  State players for their inspiring performance throughout the
  1-20  1995 season: Tory Bell, Jamie Fair, Shawn Holt, and Anthony
  1-21  Scott; and

  1-22  WHEREAS, the Jaguar team outscored its opponents 188 to 95
  1-23  in the five play-off games including a truly inspirational
  1-24  come from behind overtime victory in the Georgia Dome; and

  1-25  WHEREAS, the level of excellence achieved during the 1995
  1-26  season required a dedicated and talented coaching staff led
  1-27  by Scott Wilkins as well as a team spirit with a never say
  1-28  die attitude; and

  1-29  WHEREAS, the Cedar Shoals High School Jaguars have brought
  1-30  pride and honor to their school and their community.

  1-31  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
  1-32  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the
  1-33  Cedar Shoals High School Jaguars football team for a
  1-34  thrilling 1995 season and for its outstanding achievements
