A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Commending Glennville Elementary School; and for other
1- 2 purposes.
1- 3 WHEREAS, Glennville Elementary School was named as a 1995
1- 4 Georgia School of Excellence; and
1- 5 WHEREAS, only 31 public schools were chosen from Georgia as
1- 6 Schools of Excellence for 1995 after rigorous examination of
1- 7 many aspects of schools, including leadership, teaching
1- 8 environment, curriculum and instruction, parent and
1- 9 community support, indicators of success such as student
1-10 achievement and attendance, organizational vitality, school
1-11 nutrition, and health and physical education; and
1-12 WHEREAS, Dr. Linda Hayden, Principal of Glennville
1-13 Elementary School since 1991, has provided outstanding
1-14 leadership to the faculty, staff, parents, and students of
1-15 the school, emphasizing that "Good things come to those who
1-16 plod persistently and patiently"; and
1-17 WHEREAS, Glennville Elementary School, which serves children
1-18 from pre-school through eighth grade, is the first Tattnall
1-19 County school to earn recognition as a School of Excellence
1-20 during the ten years of the program; and
1-21 WHEREAS, the school has implemented several innovative
1-22 programs focusing on the children's needs, including KIP,
1-23 Kindness in Practice; PASS, Promoting Academic Success for
1-24 Students; PRIDE, Providing Resources in Developing
1-25 Education; PAC, Parent Advisory Committee; and PALS, staff
1-26 support for students; and
1-27 WHEREAS, Dr. Hayden added a Lifeskills course which provides
1-28 students with information to help them shape their personal
1-29 goals, form good study habits, become aware of drug and
1-30 alcohol prevention, and develop healthy personal
1-31 relationships; and the school nurse is helping to improve
1-32 the health of the children; and
1-33 WHEREAS, the cooperation and hard work of the faculty and
1-34 staff of the school grow from their shared concern for the
1-35 academic and personal success of their students.

2- 1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
2- 2 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate
2- 3 the faculty, staff, students, and parents of Glennville
2- 4 Elementary School, a School of Excellence, and commend them
2- 5 for their outstanding achievements.
2- 6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
2- 7 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
2- 8 appropriate copy of this resolution to Glennville Elementary
2- 9 School.
