HR 179 LC 16 4004 A RESOLUTION 1- 1 Recognizing the tenth anniversary of Georgia's Antebellum 1- 2 Trail; and for other purposes. 1- 3 WHEREAS, in remembrance and recognition of the historic 1- 4 significance of the Old South, that portion of United States 1- 5 Highways 129 and 441 and Georgia Highway 22 between Athens, 1- 6 Watkinsville, Madison, Eatonton, Milledgeville, Old Clinton, 1- 7 and Macon was designated by the General Assembly of Georgia 1- 8 as Georgia's Antebellum Trail in 1985; and 1- 9 WHEREAS, in its ten-year existence, Georgia's Antebellum 1-10 Trail has become an extremely popular destination for 1-11 motorcoach tours, bringing hundreds of thousands of visitors 1-12 to our state and benefiting the economy of communities 1-13 located along the trail; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Georgia's Antebellum Trail is expected to continue 1-15 to bring increasing numbers of visitors from around the 1-16 world to enjoy the attractions, amenities, and hospitality 1-17 for which Georgia is so justly famous; and 1-18 WHEREAS, the history, beauty, and romance of the Old South 1-19 are beautifully represented in Georgia's Antebellum Trail 1-20 and it is fitting and proper to recognize the tenth 1-21 anniversary of Georgia's Antebellum Trail. 1-22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 1-23 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body do recognize 1-24 the tenth anniversary of Georgia's Antebellum Trail. 1-25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 1-26 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 1-27 appropriate copy of this resolution to the representatives 1-28 of Georgia's Antebellum Trail. -1- (Index)
