      124th, Murphy of the 18th, Lee of the 94th, Coleman of the
      142nd and others

                             A RESOLUTION

  1- 1  Designating the Georgia Department of Corrections' hospital
  1- 2  in Bibb County as the Denmark Groover, Jr., Hospital; and
  1- 3  for other purposes.

  1- 4  WHEREAS, Honorable Denmark Groover, Jr., served as a member
  1- 5  of the Georgia House of Representatives with the utmost
  1- 6  distinction for over twenty years and held various positions
  1- 7  of leadership throughout his tenure; and

  1- 8  WHEREAS, he is an eminent attorney and a valued member of
  1- 9  the State Bar of Georgia where he was instrumental in
  1-10  numerous progressive efforts to improve and strengthen the
  1-11  judicial branch of government in Georgia; and

  1-12  WHEREAS, he served his country with great distinction as a
  1-13  fighter pilot in the renowned Black Sheep squadron during
  1-14  World War II; and

  1-15  WHEREAS, his keen legal knowledge and adeptness in matters
  1-16  pertaining to the legislative process were recognized by his
  1-17  peers and by legislative and executive leaders in state
  1-18  government who actively sought his advice; and

  1-19  WHEREAS, the careful scrutiny and astute political
  1-20  leadership offered by this distinguished lawyer have left an
  1-21  indelible mark in Georgia's legislative history and his
  1-22  remarkable energy, intellect, and talent deserve special
  1-23  recognition and honor.

  1-24  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
  1-25  GEORGIA that the new prison hospital to be built in Bibb
  1-26  County by the Georgia Department of Corrections for the
  1-27  long-term care of chronically, medically ill patients shall
  1-28  be designated and named the "Denmark Groover, Jr., Hospital"
  1-29  in honor of this outstanding Georgian.

  1-30  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
  1-31  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
  1-32  appropriate copy of this resolution to the commissioner of
  1-33  corrections and to Honorable Denmark Groover, Jr.
