A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Commending Captain Jerry Torbert; and for other purposes.
1- 2 WHEREAS, Captain Jerry Torbert is an invaluable member of
1- 3 the Lamar County sheriff's office; and
1- 4 WHEREAS, he is an honest and dedicated public servant who
1- 5 strives for excellence in all his endeavors and whose
1- 6 primary concern is the welfare and safety of the citizens of
1- 7 Lamar County; and
1- 8 WHEREAS, he is highly regarded by the citizens of his
1- 9 community and by state and local government officials as a
1-10 man of unquestioned integrity and dedication to the
1-11 administration of justice and sound principles of law
1-12 enforcement; and
1-13 WHEREAS, this spirited law enforcement professional has
1-14 exhibited extraordinary devotion to duty, outstanding
1-15 loyalty, fine leadership, and meticulous attention to detail
1-16 in all his duties and his personal efforts are directly
1-17 responsible for developing information and cracking the case
1-18 resulting in the apprehension of suspects in connection with
1-19 recent incidents of burglary, arson, and vandalism at nearly
1-20 60 churches in middle Georgia, including five churches in
1-21 Lamar County; and
1-22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the
1-23 members of this body show their gratitude for the unique and
1-24 often unheralded contributions of local law enforcement
1-25 officers on behalf of the citizens of this state.
1-26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
1-27 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body unanimously
1-28 commend the care, courage, sympathy, and selfless dedication
1-29 exhibited by Captain Jerry Torbert in carrying out the
1-30 difficult duties of his office in helping to apprehend
1-31 suspected church vandals and extend to him their utmost
1-32 appreciation for having so purely and truly defined for
1-33 others the meaning of public servant.
1-34 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
1-35 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
