A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Relating to a state-wide 800 MHZ, trunked radio system for
1- 2 law enforcement communications in this state; and for other
1- 3 purposes.
1- 4 WHEREAS, crime affects all segments of society and the
1- 5 dramatic increase and viciousness of crime has become the
1- 6 primary issue in this country and state; and
1- 7 WHEREAS, adequate communications between law enforcement
1- 8 officials within and between communities is a necessity for
1- 9 the protection of lives and property of the citizens of this
1-10 state; and
1-11 WHEREAS, the current communications system in Georgia is not
1-12 designed to allow constant and efficient communications
1-13 between law enforcement officers and agencies; and
1-14 WHEREAS, an 800 MHZ radio system has been established which
1-15 would provide effective and efficient communications
1-16 equipment specifically for the purpose of public safety and
1-17 the protection of life and property; and
1-18 WHEREAS, an 800 MHZ radio system has been developed by
1-19 knowledgeable experts in the fields of communication, law
1-20 enforcement, and other professional fields of endeavor; and
1-21 WHEREAS, it is imperative that Georgia implement a state of
1-22 the art radio system for law enforcement communications in
1-23 order for public safety agencies to provide quality service
1-24 throughout the state.
1-25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
1-26 REPRESENTATIVES that this body recommends that a state-wide
1-27 800 MHZ, trunked radio system be adopted as the state
1-28 standard for law enforcement communications which will allow
1-29 law enforcement agencies in Georgia to have efficient
1-30 communications in order to protect the lives and property of
1-31 the citizens of this state.
1-32 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any system established for use
1-33 in Georgia should be developed in keeping with these
1-34 standards and guidelines.
