A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Commending Georgia Save Outdoor Sculpture; and for other
1- 2 purposes.
1- 3 WHEREAS, Georgia Save Outdoor Sculpture is a special project
1- 4 coordinated by the School of Environmental Design at the
1- 5 University of Georgia as part of a nation-wide effort to
1- 6 inventory and preserve outdoor sculpture; and
1- 7 WHEREAS, outdoor sculpture provides a visible record of the
1- 8 history of the state and contributes to understanding the
1- 9 artistic and cultural heritage of Georgians; and
1-10 WHEREAS, outdoor sculpture beautifies Georgia's public
1-11 spaces and fascinates and engages visitors and citizens
1-12 alike; and
1-13 WHEREAS, much of the outdoor sculpture in Georgia is in
1-14 jeopardy due to neglect, pollution, and vandalism and the
1-15 public needs to be made aware of the need to care for these
1-16 unique art forms; and
1-17 WHEREAS, Georgia Save Outdoor Sculpture is committed to
1-18 increasing the public's awareness of outdoor sculpture in
1-19 Georgia and involving community volunteers throughout the
1-20 state in recording the appearance, history, and condition of
1-21 these special art forms; and
1-22 WHEREAS, the dedication and diligence of the staff of
1-23 Georgia Save Outdoor Sculpture in protecting and preserving
1-24 this important source of community pride deserves
1-25 recognition and support.
1-26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
1-27 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and
1-28 commend Georgia Save Outdoor Sculpture for promoting public
1-29 appreciation and preservation of the outdoor art existing in
1-30 communities throughout the state and urge all citizens to
1-31 support efforts to provide professional care for the outdoor
1-32 sculptures of their communities.
1-33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
1-34 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
1-35 appropriate copy of this resolution to Lisa D. Vogel,
