HR 509 LC 8 2518 A RESOLUTION 1- 1 Commending Honorable Jack L. Gurley; and for other purposes. 1- 2 WHEREAS, Honorable Jack L. Gurley has served with the utmost 1- 3 distinction as a former member of the Board of Commissioners 1- 4 of Hart County and as Sheriff of Hart County; and 1- 5 WHEREAS, in 1989, he offered himself as a candidate for 1- 6 District 5 of the newly created Board of Commissioners of 1- 7 Hart County and won that election overwhelmingly; and 1- 8 WHEREAS, in recognition of his leadership and ability he was 1- 9 elected as the first chairman of that governmental authority 1-10 where he demonstrated his honesty, directness, and 1-11 commitment to good government; and 1-12 WHEREAS, subsequently he was appointed as the Sheriff of 1-13 Hart County and has provided the citizens renewed trust in 1-14 this critical local law enforcement office; and 1-15 WHEREAS, he has demonstrated fairness, integrity, and 1-16 devotion throughout his years of public service; and his 1-17 dedication, attention, and responsiveness to matters within 1-18 his legal jurisdiction have greatly strengthened the 1-19 community and merit recognition and honor. 1-20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 1-21 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend 1-22 Honorable Jack L. Gurley on his exemplary public service to 1-23 the citizens of Hart County and express to him their 1-24 heartiest appreciation. 1-25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 1-26 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 1-27 appropriate copy of this resolution to Honorable Jack L. 1-28 Gurley. -1- (Index)
