HR 51 LC 18 6512 A RESOLUTION 1- 1 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution so as to provide 1- 2 that no general bill providing for or increasing any tax, 1- 3 fee, assessment, or charge by whatever designation that is 1- 4 imposed for state purposes shall become law unless such bill 1- 5 is approved by two-thirds of the members elected to each 1- 6 branch of the General Assembly in a roll-call vote; to 1- 7 provide for the submission of this amendment for 1- 8 ratification or rejection; and for other purposes. 1- 9 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. 1-10 Article VII, Section I of the Constitution is amended by 1-11 adding a new Paragraph at the end thereof, to be designated 1-12 Paragraph IV, to read as follows: 1-13 "Paragraph IV. Authorization of taxes, fees, 1-14 assessments, and charges. No general bill providing for 1-15 or increasing any tax, fee, assessment, or charge by 1-16 whatever designation that is imposed for state purposes 1-17 shall become law unless such bill is approved by 1-18 two-thirds of the members elected to each branch of the 1-19 General Assembly in a roll-call vote." SECTION 2. 1-20 The above proposed amendment to the Constitution shall be 1-21 published and submitted as provided in Article X, Section I, 1-22 Paragraph II of the Constitution. 1-23 The ballot submitting the above proposed amendment shall 1-24 have written or printed thereon the following: 1-25 "( ) YES Shall the Constitution be amended so as to 1-26 provide that no general bill providing for or 1-27 ( ) NO increasing any tax, fee, assessment, or charge 1-28 for state purposes shall become law unless 1-29 such bill is approved by two-thirds of the 1-30 members elected to each branch of the General 1-31 Assembly in a roll-call vote?" -1- (Index) LC 18 6512 2- 1 All persons desiring to vote in favor of ratifying the 2- 2 proposed amendment shall vote "Yes." All persons desiring 2- 3 to vote against ratifying the proposed amendment shall vote 2- 4 "No." 2- 5 If such amendment shall be ratified as provided in said 2- 6 Paragraph of the Constitution, it shall become a part of the 2- 7 Constitution of this state. -2- (Index)
