                             A RESOLUTION

  1- 1  Commending the Washington County Golden Hawks football team;
  1- 2  and for other purposes.

  1- 3  WHEREAS, the Washington County Golden Hawks football team
  1- 4  has established and maintained a proud tradition of
  1- 5  excellence in football, having been Region 4AA champions the
  1- 6  last three years; and

  1- 7  WHEREAS, their 1994 record was an amazing 15 wins and no
  1- 8  losses, defeating the second, third, and fourth ranked teams
  1- 9  in their division all consecutively and on the road; and

  1-10  WHEREAS, they set the all classification all time scoring
  1-11  record with 630 points while only allowing 91 total points
  1-12  in their 15 games in 1994; and

  1-13  WHEREAS, they have the best record in the state in all
  1-14  classifications over the last three years with 41 wins and
  1-15  three losses and are undefeated at home and in Region 4AA
  1-16  for the last three years; and

  1-17  WHEREAS, the team's Takeo Spikes was selected as the best
  1-18  high school football player in the state in all
  1-19  classifications by the Associated Press and was selected as
  1-20  first team All-American Defensive End by U.S.A. Today; and

  1-21  WHEREAS, head coach Rick Tomberlin has instilled in these
  1-22  dynamic athletes the courage, determination, and persistence
  1-23  needed to attain excellence in athletic prowess, team
  1-24  spirit, and individual motivation; and

  1-25  WHEREAS, the superior skills exhibited by the Golden Hawks
  1-26  coupled with the astute coaching by Rick Tomberlin, stand as
  1-27  a shining example of outstanding accomplishments which few
  1-28  schools can hope to attain.

  1-29  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
  1-30  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the
  1-31  Washington County Golden Hawks football team for its
  1-32  unparalleled achievements and extend their sincerest best
  1-33  wishes for continued success in the future.
