A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Honoring Charles Hardy and designating a portion of Georgia
1- 2 Highway 120 as the "Charles Hardy Parkway"; and for other
1- 3 purposes.
1- 4 WHEREAS, Charles Hardy is a native of Paulding County and is
1- 5 the son of Simmie Hardy and the late John P. Hardy of Hiram,
1- 6 Georgia; and
1- 7 WHEREAS, Charles Hardy has been married to Jeanette Hardy
1- 8 for forty-three years and is a dedicated family man; and
1- 9 WHEREAS, Charles Hardy has excelled in every business
1-10 endeavor in which he has ever been a participant, including
1-11 Dallas Dragstrip, a mobile home dealership, and the building
1-12 of over 700 houses; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Charles Hardy is the owner of Hardy Chevrolet,
1-14 Pontiac and Buick, Inc., five Hardy dealerships, and an
1-15 automobile auction; and
1-16 WHEREAS, Charles Hardy and Bill Elliott have now combined in
1-17 a Winston Cup NASCAR Race Team; and
1-18 WHEREAS, the Hardy businesses now employ over 175 people and
1-19 over the last five years have grossed over $350,000,000.00
1-20 and paid over $9,000,000.00 in sales taxes; and
1-21 WHEREAS, Charles Hardy is active in the community, being a
1-22 member of the Masonic Lodge and Yaarab Shrine Temple of
1-23 Atlanta; and
1-24 WHEREAS, through his efforts, over $1,000,000.00 has been
1-25 donated by Charles Hardy or through his direct efforts to
1-26 the benefit of 22 Shrine hospitals.
1-27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
1-28 GEORGIA that this body hereby honors and expresses its
1-29 appreciation to Charles Hardy for his many invaluable
1-30 contributions to his community and state.
1-31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the portion of Georgia Highway
1-32 120 extending from the Cobb - Paulding County line to U.S.
1-33 Highway 278 in Paulding County is designated as the "Charles
1-34 Hardy Parkway."

2- 1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation
2- 2 is authorized and directed to erect and maintain appropriate
2- 3 signs so designating said road.
2- 4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
2- 5 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
2- 6 appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Charles Hardy.
