SENATE BILL 307
By: Senators Perdue of the 18th, Oliver of the 42nd,
Edge of the 28th and Ralston of the 51st
A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1- 1 To amend Code Section 19-8-18 of the Official Code of
1- 2 Georgia Annotated, relating to hearings on and decrees of
1- 3 adoption, so as to provide when such decrees shall not be
1- 4 subject to judicial challenge; to repeal conflicting laws;
1- 5 and for other purposes.
1- 6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
1- 7 Code Section 19-8-18 of the Official Code of Georgia
1- 8 Annotated, relating to hearings on and decrees of adoption,
1- 9 is amended by adding at the end thereof two new subsections
1-10 to read as follows:
1-11 "(e) A decree of adoption issued pursuant to subsection
1-12 (b) of this Code section shall not be subject to any
1-13 judicial challenge filed more than six months after the
1-14 date of entry of such decree.
1-15 (f) Any decree of adoption issued prior to the effective
1-16 date of this action shall not be subject to any judicial
1-17 challenge more than six months after the effective date of
1-18 this Act."
SECTION 2.
1-19 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
1-20 repealed.
