SB 35 95 LC 21 3027 SENATE BILL 35 By: Senator Cheeks of the 23rd A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1- 1 To amend Chapter 31 of Title 31 of the Official Code of 1- 2 Georgia Annotated, relating to boxing match licenses, so as 1- 3 to provide that the State Boxing Commission shall be 1- 4 authorized to contract with certain nonprofit organizations 1- 5 to promote amateur boxing; to repeal a provision relating to 1- 6 the repeal of such chapter; to repeal conflicting laws; and 1- 7 for other purposes. 1- 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. 1- 9 Chapter 31 of Title 31 of the Official Code of Georgia 1-10 Annotated, relating to boxing match licenses, is amended by 1-11 inserting at the end of Code Section 31-31-2, relating to 1-12 the State Boxing Commission, a new subsection to read as 1-13 follows: 1-14 "(j) The commission shall be authorized to engage in 1-15 activities which promote amateur boxing in this state and 1-16 to contract with any nonprofit organization which is 1-17 exempted from the taxation of income pursuant to Code 1-18 Section 47-7-25 for the provision of services related to 1-19 the promotion of amateur boxing in this state." SECTION 2. 1-20 Said chapter is further amended by striking in its entirety 1-21 Code Section 31-31-7, relating to the repeal of such 1-22 chapter, which reads as follows: 1-23 "31-31-7. (Index) 1-24 This chapter shall stand repealed in its entirety on June 1-25 30, 1995, and on that date the State Boxing Commission 1-26 shall stand abolished." SECTION 3. 1-27 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 1-28 repealed. S. B. 35 -1- (Index)
