SB 5 95 LC 19 2217 SENATE BILL 5 By: Senators Thomas of the 10th and Walker of the 22nd A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1- 1 To amend Code Section 31-6-2 of the Official Code of Georgia 1- 2 Annotated, relating to definitions relative to state health 1- 3 planning and development, so as to change the definition of 1- 4 clinical health services; to provide an effective date; to 1- 5 repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 1- 6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. 1- 7 Code Section 31-6-2 of the Official Code of Georgia 1- 8 Annotated, relating to definitions relative to state health 1- 9 planning and development, is amended by striking paragraph 1-10 (5) of said Code section and inserting in lieu thereof a new 1-11 paragraph (5) to read as follows: 1-12 "(5) 'Clinical health services' means diagnostic, 1-13 treatment, or rehabilitative services provided in a 1-14 health care facility, or parts of the physical plant 1-15 where such services are located in a health care 1-16 facility, and includes, but is not limited to, the 1-17 following: radiology and diagnostic imaging, such as 1-18 magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission 1-19 tomography; radiation therapy; biliary lithotripsy; 1-20 surgery; intensive care; coronary care; pediatrics; 1-21 gynecology; obstetrics perinatal services, except 1-22 services not classified as Level II or Level III; 1-23 general medical care; medical/surgical care; inpatient 1-24 nursing care, whether intermediate, skilled, or extended 1-25 care; cardiac catheterization; open-heart surgery; 1-26 inpatient rehabilitation; and alcohol, drug abuse, and 1-27 mental health services." SECTION 2. 1-28 This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the 1-29 Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval. S.
