A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1- 1 To amend Code Section 40-5-63 of the Official Code of
1- 2 Georgia Annotated, relating to periods of suspension of
1- 3 drivers' licenses, so as to provide a period of suspension
1- 4 of the licenses of drivers under the age of 18 convicted of
1- 5 or pleading nolo contendere to driving under the influence
1- 6 of drugs or alcohol; to provide for applicability; to repeal
1- 7 conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
1- 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
1- 9 Code Section 40-5-63 of the Official Code of Georgia
1-10 Annotated, relating to periods of suspension of drivers'
1-11 licenses, is amended by inserting at the end thereof the
1-12 following:
1-13 "(f) Any other provision of this chapter to the contrary
1-14 notwithstanding, the driver's license of any person under
1-15 the age of 18 convicted of or entering a plea of guilty or
1-16 nolo contendere to a violation of Code Section 40-6-391
1-17 shall be suspended for a period of 12 months or until such
1-18 person's eighteenth birthday, whichever period is longer.
1-19 Persons whose drivers' licenses have been suspended
1-20 pursuant to this subsection shall not be entitled to a
1-21 limited driving permit during the period of suspension."
SECTION 2.
1-22 This Act shall be applicable to violations occurring on or
1-23 after July 1, 1995.
SECTION 3.
1-24 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
1-25 repealed.
