SB 659 96 SB659/AP SENATE BILL 659 By: Senators Dean of the 31st, Ray of the 19th and Marable of the 52nd A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1- 1 To amend Chapter 1 of Title 36 of the Official Code of 1- 2 Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions relative 1- 3 to counties, so as to provide that copies of the county 1- 4 financial statement or audit be submitted to the grand jury; 1- 5 to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; 1- 6 and for other purposes. 1- 7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. 1- 8 Chapter 1 of Title 36 of the Official Code of Georgia 1- 9 Annotated, relating to general provisions relative to 1-10 counties, is amended by striking subsection (a) of Code 1-11 Section 36-1-7, relating to submissions of returns by county 1-12 officials to the grand juries, and inserting in lieu thereof 1-13 the following: 1-14 "(a) The judges of the probate courts, county treasurers, 1-15 clerks of the superior courts, and sheriffs of the various 1-16 counties shall make a return, under oath, to the grand 1-17 juries of their respective counties on the first day of 1-18 each term of the superior court. The return shall set 1-19 forth a just and true statement of the amount of money 1-20 belonging to the county which was received by them and the dd d2˜„@dü2˜„@d1˜„@dê1˜„@dÐ1˜„@d¶1˜„@dœ1 1-22 expenditures, accompanied by proper vouchers a copy of the 1-23 most recent financial statement or annual audit of the 1-24 financial affairs of the county offices subject to this 1-25 Code section." SECTION 2. 1-26 This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the 1-27 Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval. SECTION 3. 1-28 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 1-29 repealed. S. B. 659 -1- (Index)
