      SENATE BILL 99

           Henson of the 55th and others

                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                               AN ACT


  1- 1  To amend an Act providing for the establishment of a
  1- 2  county-wide library system in Fulton County approved April
  1- 3  12, 1982 (Ga. L. 1982, p. 4174), as amended, so as to
  1- 4  provide for the application of said Act to the City of East
  1- 5  Point; to provide for the procedure in connection therewith;
  1- 6  to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws;
  1- 7  and for other purposes.

  1- 8       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

                         SECTION 1.

  1- 9  An Act providing for the establishment of a county-wide
  1-10  library system in Fulton County approved April 12, 1982 (Ga.
  1-11  L. 1982, p. 4174), as amended, is amended by striking
  1-12  subsection (a) of Section 1 and inserting in lieu thereof a
  1-13  new subsection (a) to read as follows:

  1-14    "(a) The provisions of this Act shall apply to the City of
  1-15    East Point, effective January 1, 1996; provided, however,
  1-16    that nothing in this Act shall compel the conveyance of
  1-17    real estate or buildings of any library presently utilized
  1-18    by the City of East Point, nor shall Fulton County be
  1-19    compelled to construct any library within the City of East
  1-20    Point."

                         SECTION 2.

  1-21  This Act shall become effective on January 1, 1996.

                         SECTION 3.

  1-22  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
  1-23  repealed.
