SR 15 95 LC 14 6380 SENATE RESOLUTION 15 By: Senator Dean of the 31st A RESOLUTION 1- 1 Honoring Charles Hardy and designating a portion of Georgia 1- 2 Highway 120 as the "Charles Hardy Parkway"; and for other 1- 3 purposes. 1- 4 WHEREAS, Charles Hardy is a native of Paulding County, 1- 5 Georgia, who was born to the late John P. Hardy and Simmie 1- 6 Hardy on December 3, 1933; and 1- 7 WHEREAS, Mr. Hardy is an outstanding Georgian and a leading 1- 8 member of the Georgia business community who is truly a fine 1- 9 example of the self-made man; and 1-10 WHEREAS, after humble beginnings he has enjoyed tremendous 1-11 success in the business community as the founder of Hardy 1-12 Properties, the owner of Hardy Chevrolet, Pontiac, and 1-13 Buick, and most recently as co-owner with Bill Elliott in a 1-14 Winston Cup NASCAR racing team; and 1-15 WHEREAS, in addition to his great accomplishments as a 1-16 businessman, Mr. Hardy has been a leader in civic activities 1-17 in his community and state, including membership in the 1-18 Masonic Lodge, the Yaarab Shrine Temple of Atlanta, the York 1-19 Scottish Rite, the Paulding Shrine Club, the Nobility Club, 1-20 the Paulding County Chamber of Commerce, and the Paulding 1-21 County Home Builders Association. 1-22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF 1-23 GEORGIA that this body hereby honors and expresses its 1-24 appreciation to Charles Hardy for his many invaluable 1-25 contributions to his community and state. 1-26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the portion of Georgia Highway 1-27 120 extending from the Cobb - Paulding County line to U.S. 1-28 Highway 278 in Paulding County is designated as the "Charles 1-29 Hardy Parkway." 1-30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation 1-31 is authorized and directed to erect and maintain appropriate 1-32 signs so designating said road. 1-33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is 1-34 authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of 1-35 this resolution to Mr. Hardy.
