First Reader Summary

A BILL to provide remedies for persons who are innocent of the crime or crimes for which they were convicted; to amend Article 2 of Chapter 9 of Title 42 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to grants of pardons, paroles, and other relief, so as to provide for the immediate release of incarcerated persons in certain circumstances; to amend Chapter 7 of Title 51 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to false arrest, false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, and abusive litigation, so as to provide for a cause of action for conviction of innocent persons; and for other purposes.
