                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Chapter 9 of Title 25 of the Official Code of 
  1- 2  Georgia Annotated, relating to blasting or excavating near 
  1- 3  underground gas pipes and utility facilities, so as to 
  1- 4  change the definition of the term "utility facility"; to 
  1- 5  repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 6       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 7                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1- 8  Chapter 9 of Title 25 of the Official Code of Georgia 
  1- 9  Annotated, relating to blasting or excavating near 
  1-10  underground gas pipes and utility facilities, is amended by 
  1-11  striking paragraph (15) of Code Section 25-9-2, relating to 
  1-12  definitions applicable to said chapter, and inserting in 
  1-13  lieu thereof a new paragraph (15) to read as follows: 
 
  1-14      "(15) 'Utility facility' means underground mains, pipes, 
  1-15      conduits, cables, ducts, wires, fiber optic or photonic 
  1-16      lines, or other structures operated or maintained by 
  1-17      utilities in connection with the storage, conveyance, 
  1-18      distribution, or transmission of gas, electric energy, 
  1-19      telephone or telegraphic, or cable television or video 
  1-20      communications, water, waste water, or sewage." 
 
  1-21                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-22  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
