A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Commending the Georgia Commission on Women; inviting the
1- 2 members of the commission to appear before the House of
1- 3 Representatives; and for other purposes.
1- 4 WHEREAS, the Georgia Commission on Women has distinguished
1- 5 itself as an organization that is dedicated to the
1- 6 betterment of Georgia's citizens by working to advance the
1- 7 health, education, economic, social, and legal status of
1- 8 women; and
1- 9 WHEREAS, because of deligent and selfless service, the
1-10 appointees to the Georgia Commission On Women have conducted
1-11 studies and research and analyzed the impact on women of
1-12 Georgia's laws, the laws of other states, the laws of the
1-13 federal government and many other programs, and these
1-14 dedicated appointees have utilized this knowledge to consult
1-15 and inform government officials; and
1-16 WHEREAS, priorities of the Georgia Commission on Women have
1-17 included addressing violence, discrimination, sexual
1-18 harassment, childcare, child support, and the health of
1-19 Georgia's women; and
1-20 WHEREAS, through nonpartisan collaborations, the commission
1-21 has numerous significant accomplishments, including
1-22 publishing Women and the Law: A Guide to Women's Legal
1-23 Rights in Georgia; publishing a legal guide in Spanish in
1-24 cooperation with the Spanish Bar Association; hosting
1-25 international delegations and working with refugee groups;
1-26 participating in the Coalition for the Prevention of STD's;
1-27 producing the historical video "First Ladies of Georgia";
1-28 and participating in collaborative partnerships with 25
1-29 women's organizations.
1-30 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
1-31 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the
1-32 Georgia Commission on Women for their dedicated public
1-33 service and many outstanding contributions to women.
1-34 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the Georgia
1-35 Commission on Women are invited to appear before the House

2- 1 of Representatives on a date and at a time to be determined
2- 2 by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
2- 3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
2- 4 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
2- 5 appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia
2- 6 Commission on Women.
