                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Paying tribute to Honorable Joseph Wilson Boone, former 
  1- 2  Clerk of the Georgia House of Representatives; sending 
  1- 3  condolences to his family; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 4  WHEREAS, Honorable Joseph Wilson Boone served with the 
  1- 5  utmost distinction as the Clerk of the Georgia House of 
  1- 6  Representatives during the speakerships of Roy Harris and 
  1- 7  Fred Hand which spanned a period of twenty years; and 
 
  1- 8  WHEREAS, he was born August 8, 1912, in Toomsboro, Georgia; 
  1- 9  attended public schools in Toomsboro and Irwinton in 
  1-10  Wilkinson County; graduated from Young Harris College in 
  1-11  1931; and was the business administrator at Milledgeville 
  1-12  State Hospital from 1949 until his retirement; and 
 
  1-13  WHEREAS, he was the son of Alexander Stephens Boone who was 
  1-14  a native of Toomsboro and served as the Clerk of the 
  1-15  Superior Court of Wilkinson County and who was a member of 
  1-16  the Georgia House of Representatives from 1949 through 1952 
  1-17  during the same period that his son was Clerk of the House; 
  1-18  and 
 
  1-19  WHEREAS, he was the owner, publisher, and editor of the 
  1-20  Wilkinson County News which his father founded, and he 
  1-21  maintained the integrity of that proud legacy until the 
  1-22  paper was sold in recent years; and 
 
  1-23  WHEREAS, his philanthropy underwrote the establishment of 
  1-24  the Swampland Opera House in 1976 and provided an 
  1-25  outstanding music hall to attract performers to the area for 
  1-26  public concerts that were offered free to the public as long 
  1-27  as the attendees were properly attired and not under the 
  1-28  influence of drugs or alcohol; and 
 
  1-29  WHEREAS, the exemplary public service of this distinguished 
  1-30  Georgian, his love of his community, and his devotion to his 
  1-31  friends and family will long be remembered. 
 
  1-32  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-33  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body pay tribute to 
  1-34  the esteemed Joseph Wilson Boone and convey their sincerest 
  1-35  sympathy and condolences to the members of his family.

  2- 1  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 2  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  2- 3  appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
