                             A RESOLUTION

1- 1 Expressing sympathy to the family of Ennis Cosby; and for
  1- 2 other purposes.

1- 3 WHEREAS, the intensely tragic loss of Ennis Cosby creates a
1- 4 deep sadness in the hearts of citizens all across this
  1- 5  nation for the family of this very promising young leader;
  1- 6 and

1- 7 WHEREAS, he was a graduate of Morehouse College, in Atlanta,
1- 8 Georgia, and in the proud tradition of that institution he
1- 9 had developed a solid foundation upon which to pursue his
1-10 personal ambitions and dreams; and

1-11 WHEREAS, although he was the only son of a national
1-12 celebrity, Bill Cosby, Ennis formed his own identity and had
1-13 a very clear sense of purpose, focusing his energy on
1-14 graduate studies in special education at Columbia
  1-15 University; and

1-16 WHEREAS, he had overcome personal limitations and knew well
1-17 the commitment demanded of young people to take
1-18 responsibility for their well being and to foster hope and
1-19 good will along their journey; and

1-20 WHEREAS, the Cosby family has a strong connection with
1-21 Atlantans, in that Ennis's older sister, Erin, attended
1-22 Spelman College and another sister, Evin, is currently a
1-23 sophomore there; and Morehouse and Spelman have received
1-24 very generous endowments from this family that valued
1-25 education and recognized it as shaping one's soul.

1-26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
1-27 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body express their
1-28 deepest regret at the tragic loss of Ennis Cosby and convey
1-29 to the members of his family their sincerest sympathy during
1-30 this time of great personal grief.

1-31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
1-32 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
1-33 appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Ennis
  1-34 Cosby.

                                 -1-
