                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending Johnny L. Dodson and inviting him to appear 
  1- 2  before the Senate; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership 
  1- 4  Program, known as the GOAL Program, is the first program of 
  1- 5  its type in the nation to honor outstanding students in 
  1- 6  postsecondary technical institutions; and 
 
  1- 7  WHEREAS, the GOAL Program spotlights the importance of 
  1- 8  technical training and emphasizes the dignity of work.  For 
  1- 9  25 years, the GOAL Program has served Georgia as an 
  1-10  excellent example of a true partnership between business, 
  1-11  industry and education; and 
 
  1-12  WHEREAS, Johnny L. Dodson, is the recipient of the 1996 
  1-13  Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership for demonstrating 
  1-14  exceptional academic and leadership skills; and 
 
  1-15  WHEREAS, the state GOAL winner is chosen from among 32 
  1-16  technical institute GOAL winners from throughout the state 
  1-17  to represent the thousands of Georgians benefiting from 
  1-18  technical training; and 
 
  1-19  WHEREAS, Johnny L. Dodson, an industrial maintenance 
  1-20  technology student, entered South Georgia Technical 
  1-21  Institute to obtain technical skills in order to advance in 
  1-22  the competitive industrial field; and 
 
  1-23  WHEREAS, in pursuing his education he brought honor to 
  1-24  himself, his family, his school and the technical system he 
  1-25  represents by being named the state's best technical student 
  1-26  in 1996; and 
 
  1-27  WHEREAS, as the GOAL winner he is a fitting spokesperson for 
  1-28  technical education and makes public appearances to promote 
  1-29  Georgia's technical education system. 
 
  1-30  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the 
  1-31  members of this body commend Johnny L. Dodson for his 
  1-32  achievements and for his efforts to promote technical 
  1-33  education in Georgia and invite him to appear before the 
  1-34  Senate.

  2- 1  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is 
  2- 2  authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of
