A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1- 1 To amend an Act placing the sheriff and clerk of the
1- 2 Superior Court of Clayton County on an annual salary,
1- 3 approved February 25, 1949 (Ga. L. 1949, p. 1910), as
1- 4 amended, particularly by an Act approved April 5, 1994 (Ga.
1- 5 L. 1994, p. 4883), so as to change the provisions relating
1- 6 to the compensation of the sheriff; to provide an effective
1- 7 date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
1- 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
1- 9 SECTION 1.
1-10 An Act placing the sheriff and clerk of the Superior Court
1-11 of Clayton County on an annual salary, approved February 25,
1-12 1949 (Ga. L. 1949, p. 1910), as amended, particularly by an
1-13 Act approved April 5, 1994 (Ga. L. 1994, p. 4883), is
1-14 amended by striking subsection (b) of Section 1 in its
1-15 entirety and substituting in lieu thereof a new subsection
1-16 (b) to read as follows:
1-17 "(b) The sheriff of Clayton County shall receive a total
1-18 annual salary of $81,383.28 including any supplements and
1-19 additional compensation for services which are paid
1-20 pursuant to state law or county ordinance, which are being
1-21 received on March 15, 1999, and which are paid from the
1-22 funds of Clayton County. This shall not prohibit the
1-23 governing authority of Clayton County from increasing the
1-24 amount of any supplement or compensation for additional
1-25 duties which the governing authority may lawfully pay to
1-26 the sheriff on or after July 1, 1999."
1-27 SECTION 2.
1-28 This Act shall become effective on July 1, 1999.
1-29 SECTION 3.
1-30 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
1-31 repealed.
