A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1- 1 To amend Chapter 32 of Title 33 of the Official Code of
1- 2 Georgia Annotated, relating to property insurance, so as to
1- 3 provide for available length of terms under certain crop
1- 4 insurance policies providing certain coverage for tobacco
1- 5 crops grown in this state; to provide an effective date; to
1- 6 repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
1- 7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
1- 8 SECTION 1.
1- 9 Chapter 32 of Title 33 of the Official Code of Georgia
1-10 Annotated, relating to property insurance, is amended by
1-11 adding a new Code Section 33-32-6 to read as follows:
1-12 "33-32-6.
1-13 Any insurer issuing on or after the effective date of this
1-14 Code section a policy providing crop insurance coverage,
1-15 other than federal crop insurance pursuant to 7 U.S.C.
1-16 1501, et seq., for tobacco crops grown in this state
1-17 against loss or damage due to wind, hail, or both shall
1-18 make available such coverage for a term extending until
1-19 such time as the tobacco crop is harvested, either as a
1-20 part of or as an optional endorsement to such policy of
1-21 crop insurance."
1-22 SECTION 2.
1-23 This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the
1-24 Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval.
1-25 SECTION 3.
1-26 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
1-27 repealed.
