A BILL to amend Code Section 40-14-8 of the Official Code of
Georgia Annotated, relating to when a speeding case based on the
use of any speed detection device may be made and a conviction
had, so as to provide that with respect to any traffic offense of
speeding on a federal interstate highway based on the use of any
speed detection device, a person convicted of exceeding the speed
limit shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a
fine not to exceed $50.00; and for other purposes.

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1- 1 To amend Code Section 40-14-8 of the Official Code of
1- 2 Georgia Annotated, relating to when a speeding case based on
1- 3 the use of any speed detection device may be made and a
1- 4 conviction had, so as to provide that with respect to any
1- 5 traffic offense of speeding on a federal interstate highway
1- 6 based on the use of any speed detection device, a person
1- 7 convicted of exceeding the speed limit shall be guilty of a
1- 8 misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine not to exceed
1- 9 $50.00; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
1-11 SECTION 1.
1-12 Code Section 40-14-8 of the Official Code of Georgia
1-13 Annotated, relating to when a speeding case based on the use
1-14 of any speed detection device may be made and a conviction
1-15 had, is amended by adding immediately following subsection
1-16 (b) a new subsection (c) to read as follows:
1-17 "(c) With respect to any traffic offense of speeding on a
1-18 federal interstate highway based on the use of any speed
1-19 detection device, a person convicted of exceeding the
1-20 speed limit shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be
1-21 punished by a fine not to exceed $50.00."
1-22 SECTION 2.
1-23 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
1-24 repealed.
