                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Article 2 of Chapter 10 of Title 2 of the Official 
  1- 2  Code of Georgia Annotated, known as the "Georgia Marketing 
  1- 3  Act of 1981," so as to require the provision of a step or 
  1- 4  steps to certain spaces that are rented or leased to a 
  1- 5  tenant, vendor, or lessee by the Department of Agriculture; 
  1- 6  to provide for fees and charges; to repeal conflicting laws; 
  1- 7  and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 8       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 9                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1-10  Article 2 of Chapter 10 of Title 2 of the Official Code of 
  1-11  Georgia Annotated, known as the "Georgia Marketing Act of 
  1-12  1981," is amended by adding a new Code Section 2-10-57.1 to 
  1-13  read as follows: 
 
  1-14    "2-10-57.1. 
 
  1-15    Any space which is 18 inches high or higher above the 
  1-16    surrounding pavement or ground and from which the 
  1-17    department receives a rental or lease payment from a 
  1-18    tenant, vendor, or lessee shall be equipped with a step or 
  1-19    steps as necessary to facilitate the entrance or exit by 
  1-20    the tenant, vendor, or lessee.  Where appropriate, a step 
  1-21    or steps shall be located in the back of the rented or 
  1-22    leased space, as well as at the front of such space.  The 
  1-23    step or steps that are provided for the entrance or exit 
  1-24    may be moved from the rented or leased space to other 
  1-25    locations as needed.  Any such rented or leased space 
  1-26    shall have a step or steps at all times for which a rental 
  1-27    fee or lease payment is payable to the department." 
 
  1-28                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-29  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 
  1-30  repealed.
