                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend an Act providing for the minimum compensation for 
  1- 2  certain county officers of Pulaski County, approved April 
  1- 3  11, 1979 (Ga. L. 1979, p. 4129), so as to change the 
  1- 4  officials to which such Act is applicable; to provide for a 
  1- 5  contingent effective date; to provide for automatic repeal 
  1- 6  under certain circumstances; to repeal conflicting laws; and 
  1- 7  for other purposes. 
 
  1- 8       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 9                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1-10  An Act providing for the minimum compensation for certain 
  1-11  county officers of Pulaski County, approved April 11, 1979 
  1-12  (Ga. L. 1979, p. 4129), is amended by striking subsection 
  1-13  (b) of Section 1, which reads as follows: 
 
  1-14    "(b) 'Pulaski County officers' means the Sheriff, the Tax 
  1-15    Commissioner, the Judge of the Probate Court, the Clerk of 
  1-16    the Superior Court and the County Commissioner of Pulaski 
  1-17    County.", 
 
  1-18  and inserting in its place a new subsection (b) of Section 1 
  1-19  to read as follows: 
 
  1-20    "(b) 'Pulaski County officers' means the Sheriff, the Tax 
  1-21    Commissioner, the Judge of the Probate Court, and the 
  1-22    Clerk of the Superior Court." 
 
  1-23                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-24  This Act shall become effective January 1, 2001; provided, 
  1-25  however, that this Act shall only become effective on 
  1-26  January 1, 2001, upon the approval of a local Act in a dual 
  1-27  referendum in 1999, which Act provides for the consolidation 
  1-28  of the governments of the City of Hawkinsville and Pulaski 
  1-29  County into the consolidated government of 
  1-30  Hawkinsville-Pulaski County, Georgia.  If such Act is not so 
  1-31  approved, this Act shall not become effective and shall 
  1-32  stand repealed in its entirety on January 1, 2001.

  2- 2  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
