                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Article 2 of Chapter 5 of Title 40 of the Official 
  1- 2  Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to issuance and renewal 
  1- 3  of drivers' licenses, so as to provide for contracts with 
  1- 4  the Department of Industry, Trade, and Tourism for the 
  1- 5  renewal of drivers' licenses in that department's offices 
  1- 6  outside the United States and provide for conditions of 
  1- 7  renewal; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 8       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 9                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1-10  Article 2 of Chapter 5 of Title 40 of the Official Code of 
  1-11  Georgia Annotated, relating to issuance and renewal of 
  1-12  drivers' licenses, is amended by adding after Code Section 
  1-13  40-5-32 a new Code section to read as follows: 
 
  1-14    "40-5-32.1. 
 
  1-15    The department shall contract with the Department of 
  1-16    Industry, Trade, and Tourism to have employees of the 
  1-17    Department of Industry, Trade, and Tourism who are located 
  1-18    in that department's offices outside the United States in 
  1-19    order for those employees to renew drivers' licenses of 
  1-20    citizens of this state who reside outside the United 
  1-21    States and who present themselves at such offices for such 
  1-22    renewal.  Such employees shall be provided with the 
  1-23    examination forms, equipment, materials, training, and 
  1-24    other items required for such renewal.  Persons requesting 
  1-25    such renewal may be required to furnish an appropriate 
  1-26    photograph for inclusion in the renewed driver's license 
  1-27    as well as any information necessary for such renewal and 
  1-28    to pay the required renewal fee." 
 
  1-29                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-30  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 
  1-31  repealed.
