A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1- 1 To amend an Act providing for the compensation of the
1- 2 coroner of Clarke County, Georgia, approved March 21, 1970
1- 3 (Ga. L. 1970, p. 2980), as amended, particularly by an Act
1- 4 approved April 11, 1979 (Ga. L. 1979, p. 4315), an Act
1- 5 approved March 25, 1986 (Ga. L. 1986, p. 4710), and an Act
1- 6 approved March 27, 1998 (Ga. L. 1998, p. 3661), so as to
1- 7 change the provisions regarding compensation; to provide an
1- 8 effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
1- 9 purposes.
1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
1-11 SECTION 1.
1-12 An Act providing for the compensation of the coroner of
1-13 Clarke County, Georgia, approved March 21, 1970 (Ga. L.
1-14 1970, p. 2980), as amended, particularly by an Act approved
1-15 April 11, 1979 (Ga. L. 1979, p. 4315), an Act approved March
1-16 25, 1986 (Ga. L. 1986, p. 4710), and an Act approved March
1-17 27, 1998 (Ga. L. 1998, p. 3661), is amended by striking
1-18 subsection (a) of Section 1 of said Act in its entirety and
1-19 inserting in lieu thereof a new subsection (a) to read as
1-20 follows:
1-21 "(a) In lieu of all fees and other compensation provided by
1-22 law, the coroner of Athens-Clarke County shall be
1-23 compensated for his official duties by an annual salary of
1-24 $12,000.00 and an annual expense allowance of $3,600.00,
1-25 both payable in equal monthly installments from the funds of
1-26 Athens-Clarke County."
1-27 SECTION 2.
1-28 This Act shall become effective on January 1, 2000.
1-29 SECTION 3.
1-30 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
1-31 repealed.
