A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Recognizing and commending Dr. Priscilla Bennett; and for
1- 2 other purposes.
1- 3 WHEREAS, Dr. Priscilla Bennett, Professor of Media Education
1- 4 at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, has been an
1- 5 exemplary educator to all of her students; and
1- 6 WHEREAS, she received her B.S. in Early Education at Florida
1- 7 Atlantic University in 1966, her M.Ed. at the University of
1- 8 Florida in 1968, and her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction
1- 9 at the University of South Florida in 1982; and
1-10 WHEREAS, she became an assistant professor in the Department
1-11 of Research, Media, and Technology at West Georgia College
1-12 in 1983. In 1989 she became an assistant associate
1-13 professor, and in 1995 she became an esteemed Professor of
1-14 Media and Instructional Technology; and
1-15 WHEREAS, Dr. Bennett has been an active member of the
1-16 American Library Association, the American Association of
1-17 School Librarians, Phi Kappa Phi, Georgia Library Media
1-18 Association, and the International Board of Books for Young
1-19 People; and
1-20 WHEREAS, she has had many articles published in renowned
1-21 professional publications; has served as a reviewer for
1-22 various library related periodicals; and has spoken at
1-23 numerous conferences, including AASL, International Board of
1-24 Books, Georgia Council of Media Organizations, RESA, and
1-25 GSAMS Programming and Training Conference; and
1-26 WHEREAS, her influence on the school library media program
1-27 in the State of Georgia has helped make it one of the best
1-28 in the nation, and through her undergraduate and graduate
1-29 students, she has woven a web of influence reaching into
1-30 schools all across our state; and
1-31 WHEREAS, Dr. Bennett's retirement in December of 1999 has
1-32 left a void impossible to fill, yet her inspiration and
1-33 ideals will continue through her students and her fellow
1-34 faculty members who have benefited greatly from her
1-35 knowledge and talent.

2- 1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
2- 2 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and
2- 3 commend Dr. Priscilla Bennett for her many outstanding
2- 4 accomplishments and for her numerous contributions to the
2- 5 citizens of the State of Georgia and wish her a long and
2- 6 happy retirement.
2- 7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
2- 8 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
2- 9 appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Priscilla
2-10 Bennett.
