A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Recognizing and commending Elizabeth Gay Estes; and for
1- 2 other purposes.
1- 3 WHEREAS, the National Society of the Daughters of the
1- 4 American Revolution was organized on October 11, 1890, with
1- 5 three great objectives: historic preservation, educational
1- 6 activities, and patriotic endeavor; and
1- 7 WHEREAS, the Benjamin Hawkins Chapter of the National
1- 8 Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution has a
1- 9 well-deserved reputation for preserving the past, carrying
1-10 out its obligations to the present, and building a firm
1-11 foundation to safeguard the future; and
1-12 WHEREAS, America needs knowledgeable citizens who are aware
1-13 of the sacrifices required in the past, the present, and the
1-14 future to preserve freedom and the American way of life; and
1-15 WHEREAS, Elizabeth Gay Estes is a tireless and dedicated
1-16 member of the Benjamin Hawkins Chapter of the National
1-17 Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and
1-18 exemplifies the high ideals of this outstanding
1-19 organization; and
1-20 WHEREAS, the direct and indirect results of the efforts of
1-21 Elizabeth Gay Estes and the Benjamin Hawkins Chapter of the
1-22 National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution
1-23 are part of the fabric of American society.
1-24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
1-25 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and
1-26 commend Elizabeth Gay Estes for her many contributions to
1-27 the State of Georgia.
1-28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
1-29 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
1-30 appropriate copy of this resolution to Elizabeth Gay Estes.
