                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending Tommy E. Waldrop; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 2  WHEREAS, Tommy E. Waldrop is a law enforcement legend in 
  1- 3  Douglas County.  He has over 40 years' experience in law 
  1- 4  enforcement, 33 years with the Georgia State Patrol, and 
  1- 5  eight years as Sheriff of Douglas County; and 
 
  1- 6  WHEREAS, Sheriff Waldrop was also a volunteer fireman for 
  1- 7  over 20 years and, in 1999, was voted "Boss of the Year" by 
  1- 8  Douglas County residents and first runner-up in the category 
  1- 9  of "Best Liked Elected Official"; and 
 
  1-10  WHEREAS, his popularity is due to his fairness and his 
  1-11  firmness and to his lifelong connection with the county.  In 
  1-12  addition to his law enforcement career, Sheriff Waldrop is 
  1-13  the seventh generation of Waldrops to operate the family's 
  1-14  350 acre farm; and 
 
  1-15  WHEREAS, Sheriff Waldrop and his wife of 35 years, Elaine, 
  1-16  have five wonderful and successful children and six terrific 
  1-17  grandchildren; and 
 
  1-18  WHEREAS, Sheriff Waldrop and his family are members of 
  1-19  Liberty Baptist Church in Winston, and Sheriff Waldrop 
  1-20  spends a great deal of time in community service, including 
  1-21  serving on the board of directors of the Douglas County Farm 
  1-22  Bureau among other things; and 
 
  1-23  WHEREAS, it is public servants like Sheriff Waldrop who make 
  1-24  the communities of Georgia the safe and wonderful places to 
  1-25  live and work that they are. 
 
  1-26  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-27  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Tommy 
  1-28  E. Waldrop on his outstanding career in law enforcement and 
  1-29  public service. 
 
  1-30  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-31  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-32  appropriate copy of this resolution to Tommy E. Waldrop.
