                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending Rockdale County High School; and for other 
  1- 2  purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Rockdale County High School is one of Georgia's 
  1- 4  finest public schools, and its students, faculty, and staff 
  1- 5  have a proud history of scholastic excellence and personal 
  1- 6  development that brings honor to the community; and 
 
  1- 7  WHEREAS, Rockdale High School was named a 2000 Georgia 
  1- 8  School of Excellence and was previously named a School of 
  1- 9  Excellence in 1988 and 1993; and 
 
  1-10  WHEREAS, the high school newspaper and yearbook staffs won 
  1-11  awards of first place and first place with special merit 
  1-12  from the National Scholastic Press Association; and 
 
  1-13  WHEREAS, the boys soccer team received the National Soccer 
  1-14  Coaches' Association Academic Award for Outstanding Academic 
  1-15  Performance as a Team in 1998 and in 1999, and is among 11 
  1-16  teams in the nation to win for two straight years; and 
 
  1-17  WHEREAS, in the past five years, the school has won region 
  1-18  championships in one act play, softball, cheerleading, 
  1-19  soccer, baseball, and football competitions; and 
 
  1-20  WHEREAS, the principal of Rockdale County High School, Dr. 
  1-21  Kathy Garber, was named a Milken Family Foundation National 
  1-22  Outstanding Educator in 1998; and she was named Georgia 
  1-23  Principal of the Year 2000 by the National Association of 
  1-24  Secondary School Principals/Met Life and is one of four 
  1-25  finalists for the National Principal of the Year award. 
 
  1-26  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-27  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize the 
  1-28  students, teachers, and staff of Rockdale County High School 
  1-29  for their outstanding performance. 
 
  1-30  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-31  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-32  appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Kathy Garber,
