                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending the Lassiter High School Marching Trojan Band and 
  1- 2  inviting its members and directors to appear before the 
  1- 3  House of Representatives; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 4  WHEREAS, on November 14, 1998, the 280 member Lassiter High 
  1- 5  School Marching Trojan Band from Marietta, Georgia, won the 
  1- 6  Bands of America Grand National Championship with a score of 
  1- 7  97.55, the highest score awarded in the history of the Bands 
  1- 8  of America; and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, prior to winning this "World Series" for high 
  1-10  school bands, the Lassiter High School Marching Trojan Band 
  1-11  took top honors at the Southeast Regional in Johnson City, 
  1-12  Tennessee, on October 31, 1998, and the Southern Regional at 
  1-13  the Georgia Dome on November 7, 1998; and 
 
  1-14  WHEREAS, throughout its 16 year history, this band has won 
  1-15  over 50 marching competitions, performed twice for the 
  1-16  President of the United States, and has appeared at the 
  1-17  World's Fair and the Tournament of Roses; and 
 
  1-18  WHEREAS, the Lassiter High School Marching Trojan Band is 
  1-19  ably led by Director Alfred Watkins, Assistant Directors Sue 
  1-20  Samuels and Catharine Sinon, and student Drum Majors Kasey 
  1-21  Chanin, Julie Hayes, Shelley Mason, and Abbe Stribling. 
 
  1-22  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-23  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body heartily 
  1-24  commend the members and directors of the Lassiter High 
  1-25  School Marching Trojan Band for bringing the Bands of 
  1-26  America Grand National Championship trophy to Georgia for 
  1-27  the first time ever and extend to them our best wishes for 
  1-28  their continued success. 
 
  1-29  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members and directors of the 
  1-30  Lassiter High School Marching Trojan Band are invited to 
  1-31  appear before the House of Representatives on a date and at 
  1-32  a time designated by the Speaker of the House of 
  1-33  Representatives. 
 
  1-34  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-35  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
